rain rain rain

I did not wake up at 6 AM today. That's because it was raining, so sunrise didn't make it to my windows. When I did wake up for Mass, the flat was dead silent. It was a little eerie, because the hallway lights and elevator lobby lights were turned off too, so it was very much like it was the first couple days I was here... dark, quiet, and altogether dreary.

Trudged through the rain to a rather empty Mass with no music. I think I'm gonna miss Father Martin's homilies. I always find myself listening. Go figure. Only two more Masses here... wow.

It rained pretty much all day, and when it stopped raining for a bit, it still looked like it was raining. Since I was bored I decided to cook for real for dinner, so of course the fire alarm went off in the midst of things >.< No, it wasn't my cooking that set it off. We all trooped outside to stand in the rain while the officials came by to tell off whoever left the toast in too long. I was talking with Vicki, Laura, and the Mississippi girl who was in my 202 exam when Sebastian sidled up, took out a box of loose tobacco, and began to roll a cigarette. We all just sort of gave him a look and closed ranks. He sidled away and inhaled his cancer elsewhere. Ugh.

Despite having to pause in the middle of things, I wound up with a tasty rice dish. The little peppers are delicious, much more flavorful than green bell peppers, and not hot at all. Not that I mind hot : P but these are good to eat raw as well. I only used two, though, so I'm gonna have to come up with some way to use the rest of them. I'm open to suggestions -- I found a recipe online for roast baby peppers stuffed with macaroni and cheese! Sounds delicious. Too bad Britain doesn't know how to do mac and cheese : P

I did some concept work on various storylines to while away the afternoon. Also ran the battery on my DS to completely dead, so I hope Lucy remembers she offered to loan me her charger. So now it's midnight and I'm out of things to do and nobody's around to talk to... might be an early night tonight...
